The Complete Kitchen Appliance Package Guide for Australian Renovators (2026)

Introduction

Planning a kitchen renovation and trying to figure out which appliances you actually need — and whether to buy them separately or as a package? This guide breaks it down the way a kitchen installer would explain it to a mate, not the way an appliance showroom would sell it to you.

We've been installing kitchens in the Shoalhaven for over 30 years, and we supply Blaupunkt appliances direct through our online store. So this is genuinely our view on what works, what's worth spending on, and where you can save.

What's Actually in a Kitchen Appliance Package?

A full kitchen appliance package typically covers four core items:

  • Oven — built-in or freestanding
  • Cooktop — gas, ceramic, or induction
  • Rangehood — slide-out, undermount, or canopy
  • Sink and tapware — often overlooked until too late

Some packages also include a dishwasher, microwave, or combi-steamer if you're going full premium.

Why Buy a Package Instead of Individual Appliances?

Three reasons installers always recommend it:

  1. Matching finishes — mismatched appliances from different brands are one of the most common renovation regrets. A curated package ensures everything looks intentional.
  2. Better value — bundling saves you money vs buying individually. Our Essential Kitchen Package is a good example of this.
  3. One delivery, one warranty conversation — buying from four different places means four different warranty claims if something goes wrong.

The Four Package Tiers (and Who Each Is For)

Mini / Starter — Ceramic cooktop + single bowl sink. Perfect for investment properties, granny flats, or a laundry/second kitchen setup. See our Mini Package →

Essential — 60cm oven + ceramic cooktop + sink + tap. The most popular choice for a standard 3-bedroom home renovation. Gets the job done without overcapitalising. See our Essential Package →

Premium — Steps up the oven spec and finish quality. Right for people who cook regularly and want appliances that feel premium without going full luxury. See our Premium Package →

Deluxe — The full setup. This is what we'd put in our own kitchen. See our Deluxe Package →

Black Series — Gas cooktop + 8-function oven + granite sink. For the kitchen that needs to make a statement. See the Black Package →

Gas vs Ceramic vs Induction: Quick Take

  • Gas — favourite of serious home cooks. Instant heat, visual control, works in a blackout. Requires a gas connection.
  • Ceramic — easiest to clean, most budget-friendly. Good for rental properties.
  • Induction — fastest heating, most energy efficient, safest with kids. Glass surface but only works with induction-compatible cookware.

What to Spend vs Where to Save

Worth spending on: the oven. You'll use it every day for 15+ years. A good multifunction oven with pyrolytic cleaning pays for itself in time saved.

Worth saving on: the rangehood, within reason. A 90cm slideout does the same job as a designer canopy for most home kitchens. Spend the difference on the oven.

Don't cheap out on: the sink. A flimsy sink is a daily frustration ( hello wobbly tap). Granite composite sinks in particular are worth the small premium.
